2017 YEAR IN REVIEW - How I'm Building A Business That Works With My Life

My, oh, my has 2017 been a year of blessings, growth, and new opportunities! At the end of every year we have the tendency to think about all of the things that DID NOT happen during the year and prepare for making those things happen next year. Goal setting is great and all but it’s not the energy you should be running into the new year with. Before you start thinking about all the things that you didn’t have a chance to conquer this year, take a trip down gratitude lane and think about all the things you did accomplish this year.

A few of the biggest wins of 2017 for me were:

  • Getting featured in the May issue of Women’s Health (!!!!)

  • I finally trademarked SPIESFitToFight (!!!!!!!)

  • After some serious soul searching I REALLY defined my niche and ideal clients which led to….

    • Booking my first high-paying client

    • Scheduling over 30 client calls

    • Creating my private Facebook group for entrepreneurial women with anxiety, the Decaf Doers

  • And this new niche and business focus finally made me start treating SPIES like a legit business which meant investing in...

    • A business coach

    • A life coach

    • Courses, courses, courses

    • Acuity

    • LOTS of Google Drive Storage

    • A professional microphone

    • doTERRA

    • Yoga classes

  • And all of these business and life changes helped me to transform and create radical growth leading to new opportunities like…

    • Launching my podcast, Shining From The Shadows

    • Being interviewed by Think Creative Collective

    • Being featured on Stigma Fighters

    • Speaking at NAMI New York State’s educational conference

    • Developing my mega masterclass for entrepreneurial women with anxiety, The Decaf Doers Playbook

    • New Friendships

Many of these things were easy to remember at first glance, but about half of the items on this list were almost completely forgot about! It wasn’t until I took the time to really remember and appreciate all I’ve done this year to actively realize these accomplishments.

It’s our natural tendency to remember negative events, so once we push past the discomfort we can focus on our achievements. For example, when I first started thinking about what 2017 meant for me I automatically thought about….

  • Quitting my 9-5

  • Being unemployed for a short while

  • Really tight finances

  • Moving into my boyfriend’s parents house

  • My dog passing away

  • A serious struggle with depression and anxiety

  • Gaining a ton of weight

  • Etc.

Yuck! Those are not good feelings! But those are what first came up for me when I started recapping on 2017. I literally forgot all about the first list of achievements until I actively tried to remember. Our brains and natural habits are weird, yo.

Now onto 2018! A few lessons I learned this year that I’m excited to take with me into the new year are listed below.

Things I'm still learning...

  • Physical merchandise is HARD to handle when it’s not your main focus.

  • It’s SO important to utilize your good mental health days to the fullest.

  • Writing a book is a huge overwhelming process that needs all of your attention.

  • Fulltime and part-time gigs are the capital investors of your future. Don’t give up on them just yet.

  • Follow and implement deadlines. Seriously, do it.

  • Keeping your ideas in one place is a serious life saver.

  • God is great.

Basically, 2017 was a serious growth year for me and I envision growing even further in 2018. In order to do so, I’m setting my goals high, yet attainable. Instead of planning goals for the entire year, I’m sticking to goal-setting for only quarter one of 2018.

You’ll get an inside look at how I’m reaching my Q1 goals on the free worksheet you can download using the opt-in above!

I know I’m a loose cannon and if a brand new shiny idea comes along and it feels right, I know I’ll be following that idea through. Which is why I don’t want to plan too far out, because let’s be real, things change!

---

So how am I building a business that works with my life? I’m giving myself rest days, I’m allowing launches to take longer than normal, I’m putting less pressure on myself, and I’m automating #allofthethings.

But most importantly, I’m speaking my authentic truth in everything I do. If I start a project that doesn’t feel right, I’m going to end it instead of continually pushing on, trying to make it feel good. It’s an unnecessary exhaustion that drains my energy.

I’m also only working with clients who are completely aligned with my mission. I’m here to serve heart-centered business women who live with anxiety, and no one else.

I’m connecting with my intuition and tuning into what source energy wants me to share. I'm letting spirit speak through me and I'm becoming unapologetic about the words I choose to write.

Honor your power, get aligned, listen to your gut feelings, and make 2018 a year of growth and new opportunities.
