How To Embrace Your Life And Overpower Negative Beliefs

It doesn’t matter where you are right now. It’s never too soon — or too late — to start showing the world who you really are. In order to show the world who you really are, you need to embrace your life and shine your inner light.

Realization hits at the most obscure times.

After having a bowl of pasta for lunch I was craving something sweet so I opened the fridge to see what would satisfy my craving. I grabbed the container of dates I saw, ate two and then filled myself a glass of water.

As I was holding my glass under the running faucet I stopped chewing the remaining bits of date in my mouth and completely froze.

My ‘after-lunch-sweet-snack’ was the equivalent to what I used to call a full day’s worth of meals. Yes, meal is plural.

Five years ago, my average calorie consumption was around 500 calories a day.

If I treated myself to eating a date, the world came crashing down around me and I didn’t believe I deserved a bite of anything more.

Dates are sweet so they had to be filled with STUPID amounts of badness. Obvi. #FactsOnly

More often than not, I completely forget about the extremity of my eating disorder behavior.

Honestly, it feels like that time in my life was so long ago that it wasn’t even my own experiences.

When I think back to 2011 - the height of my eating disorder - every memory feels displaced. It couldn’t have possibly been my own life. The memories seem like a looking glass into a really awful Dr. Phil episode. (Sidebar.. Is that show still even on?!)

The reason I bring this up is because five years is such a short period of time in the big scheme of things.

Over the course of 5 years I managed to go from hanging onto my life by a thread to finding a reason for recovery to starting my own business to helping thousands of people every month see that they’re alive in a life worth living.

Talk about a complete 180.

My life is a prime example of how if you have hope... anything can happen.

It doesn’t matter where you are right now. It’s never too soon — or too late — to start showing the world who you really are. In order to show the world who you really are, you need to embrace your life and shine your inner light.

The number one thing on your mind right now is that you want to be living a life of happiness. I totally get that and even at my darkest moments, in the back of my mind I knew that happiness was all I craved. I just didn’t know where to look for it.

Looking within myself wasn’t even a blip on my radar.

I saw myself as worthless, a piece of shit if you will.

How could the answer to happiness be inside of me? How could there be a light shining from within?

I was so dark, blackened and tainted from the inside out. Love couldn’t possibly have a home inside of me. At least that’s what I told myself.

What I didn’t know at the time was that my darkness lived externally because of the prominence I had placed on it in my mind.

As soon as I let go of the negativity and woe is me attitude, the dark cloud began to be lifted.
