How our mental health journey and our life struggles are our greatest source of power

Our mental health story and our life struggles are our source of divine power. We all have a greater purpose. Each and every one of us who have been playing small needs to begin living life on purpose.

I believe that we all have a greater purpose. Each and every one of us who have been put on this planet and struggled through some hardship or another did so for a specific reason.

Our struggles are our stories and our stories are our source of power.

What was once a weakness is now our fuel, igniting our purpose.

If you’re new here, I suggest you check out my free course, Turning Wisdom Into Words. The course is 4 days long and teaches you key lessons about how and why you should be sharing your experiences if you are someone living with mental illness. Hundreds of people have already enrolled and are one step ahead in creating a life they truly love. So what are you waiting for? It’s free for goodness sake!

For all of you non-believers out there, who don’t think there’s a greater reason for your suffering, raise your hand. (Yes, I can see you!)  Now, for all of those with your hand in the air...WAVE IT LIKE YOU JUST DON’T CARE. haha kidding! But on a serious note, I want you to think about how you landed on this site.

What made you click over to my blog versus the billion of other websites out there? Were you scrolling through Pinterest mindlessly and then BAM you unconsciously clicked on over? Were you searching through your Facebook Groups and saw a message from me that resonated with you so you decided to dive deeper? Were you searching on your favorite hashtag on Twitter or Instagram and one of my images caught your eye?

Regardless of the way you entered this site, you made it here. The universe wanted you to read these words at this exact moment in time. Maybe you’re reading this 3 minutes after it goes live, or maybe you’re reading it 3 months after it’s live. I just want you to know, you’re right where you’re supposed to be.

The universe put you in front of me.

There are no such things as accidents - everything, and I mean everything, happens for a reason.

Synchronicities should flow to you with ease and over time you should expect and look forward to these miracle moments.

For an example, let’s talk about my relationship with spirituality and God. (Before you go clicking away, hold tight, I think you’re going to want to hear this.)

Never once, in my 20 years on this planet did I even consider the possibility of there being a God or higher power. I was raised Catholic but I thought churches seemed like demon summoning sessions and I couldn’t understand why everyone knew what the hell to do. (Seriously, I still don’t get when and why we sit, stand, kneel, repeat!) It just wasn’t my thing.

At 21, I was living on my own, working for an amazing company and was in the midst of making SPIES what it is today. I was buying tons of courses on content creation, how to create webinars, how to find your ideal audience, yadda yadda yadda. I was eating up as much information as I possibly could. I fell in love with being self-taught. I latched onto any knowledge I could find, whether it be a book, a podcast, a course, or a blog, I didn’t care. I just wanted to open my mind to all the possibilities.

Our struggles are our stories and our stories are our source of power from the divine. What was once a weakness is now our fuel, igniting our life's purpose. #selfhelp #lifecoaching #positivity

Within this quest to become a self-taught entrepreneur / life coach / mental health advocate / writer / speaker / web designer / branding expert / I think you get the point!, I stumbled across the lovely Gabby Bernstein!

How I landed on her website, I have no idea. But I do know that I something clicked within me and I knew I had to stay. I watched her vlogs and speaking events on YouTube for hours on end. I ordered her book, Spirit Junkie, on the same day and that’s when everything changed.

That ‘accidental’ stumble upon Gabby’s website was my reintroduction to spirit. (I say reintroduction because we never truly lose touch with spirit, we just ignore what it has to say.)

When Spirit Junkie arrived at my apartment, I remember feeling the energy given off by this beautiful book. I wanted to read it all right there and then, and I basically did. I devoured it in a day and read it once more to highlight everything that resonated with me. (Which ended up being 99% of the text!)

From there I purchased A Course In Miracles, the metaphysical text which has changed my entire life. And I was introduced to Marianne Williamson, Abraham Hicks, Wayne Dyer, and of course, the Hay House collection of publications.

I truly became a Spirit Junkie!! I couldn’t get enough of this stuff.

Then, in January of 2016, my brother passed away. Whoa. Hello, divine timing.

If I hadn’t started my journey on this spiritual path, I’m not sure how well I would have coped with this loss. This event did however, deepen my relationship with spirit even more. I felt my brother with me all the time. I read tarot cards for guidance and Doreen Virtue’s Messages From Heaven cards. Everything felt so divinely perfect.

Most people would say that the loss in their family would change their life for the worse, but in my case, it was totally for the better. It had brought me back into my natural alignment with the universe!

I was aligned and listening to the universe’s guidance through meditation and SPIES began to take off. I booked speaking gigs, I banged out two amazing courses for you guys, I rebranded the site, and it’s only been up since then!

Which brings me to present day, here, writing these words to you and now, when you’re reading these words.

If the universe didn’t want our souls to meet, you wouldn’t be here reading this right now.

If I didn’t suffer through an eating disorder, depression, anxiety and recover from all three mental illnesses, or if I didn’t grow up with a special needs brother, or if I didn’t have the entrepreneurial creative genes in me, or if I didn’t quit my 9-5 even though everyone around me told me no, I wouldn’t be writing these words.

Everything. E V E R Y T H I N G happens for a reason!

Now, I don’t know what brought you here today. But damn, I know you’re a damn warrior for making your way here. You have so much potential burning inside of you and it’s time you let it out!

Start by owning your story. Own your struggles, your past, and your journey. From there, I will guide you.

Do your soul a favor, no, do the world a favor, and turn your wisdom into words. The universe is waiting for you!

Our mental health story and our life struggles are our source of divine power. We all have a greater purpose. Each and every one of us who have been playing small needs to begin living life on purpose.
